Carroll University is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative nursing educator to serve as the Chair of its successful and growing Department of Nursing. The Carroll BSN program is consistently one of the top performing programs in the state, with a 95-100% NCLEX pass rate. The department, within the College of Health Sciences, seeks a leader who will develop a vision of the future of the department as it transitions into its new 15,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art nursing education and simulation center and explores post- baccalaureate nursing education offerings. The Chair is eligible for either a tenure track or clinical faculty appointment.

The Chair will:
· Have an earned doctorate in nursing from an accredited institution;
· Currently hold or obtain an unencumbered registered nurse license in the state of Wisconsin;
· Be supportive of the mission and vision of Carroll University, the College of Health Sciences, the Department of Nursing and its emerging programs;
· Be a creative, innovative, energetic leader who demonstrates an ability to work in an environment of expansion, aspiration and interprofessional practice;
· Have expertise in utilization and implementation of healthcare and educational technologies;
· Have nursing education leadership experience;
· Have a commitment to excellence in teaching, and demonstrate a record of scholarship and service;
· Experience with professional accreditation processes is preferred;
· Experience in obtaining external resources in support of the nursing program is preferred;
Responsibilities: The Chair will provide academic and administrative leadership to the department of nursing. This position is a 12-month appointment. The department of nursing includes a well- established, high achieving Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, and is in the process of developing post Baccalaureate offerings. The Chair of the Department of Nursing reports to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences and serves as a member of the College of Health Sciences' administrative team. The Chair is responsible for continued CNNE accreditation compliance and oversight of new program offerings. S/He is responsible for faculty, staff, and student recruitment; budget preparation and management; professional and scholarly development of faculty and staff; evaluation of personnel and programs; leading accreditation efforts; and in collaboration with the faculty, curriculum development, evaluation, and expansion. As a clinical or tenure track faculty member, the Chair also engages in teaching, scholarship, and service to the University.
Rank and Salary: Based on the successful applicant's qualifications, the appointment will be either on the tenure track or clinical faculty track at the rank of associate or full professor. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
The Department: The Department of Nursing is in the College of Health Sciences. The department offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree; current enrollment in the nursing major is 420 students. The BSN program is approved by the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing and accredited by CCNE through December 2020. Since 2010, Carroll nursing graduates have an NCLEX RN pass rate of 95%- 100%. A full-time laboratory staff member coordinates two Nursing Skills and Simulation laboratories.
state of the art 15,000 square foot nursing simulation laboratory, computer laboratory and interactive classroom space in the Douglas N. and Nancy J. Hastad Hall will open in December 2017. The Department of Nursing has a strong record of private foundation support and federal grant funding through Human Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and Health and Human Services (HHS). Current practicum affiliations include health systems in southeastern Wisconsin and
community health agencies. The Department currently operates the health center at the Bruce Guadalupe Community School providing health services and education to students, staff, and families.
The College: The College of Health Sciences includes the Departments of Health and Medicine, Human Movement Sciences, Nursing, and Physical Therapy, with graduate programs in exercise physiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies. Health sciences account for ~60% of the University enrollment. The college prepares health care professionals for clinical practice in evolving delivery systems, health care education, and integrative research in a diverse society. The college wide foci include interprofessional education and practice, the integrated approach to health, innovative learning and healthcare technologies, and community partnerships.
The college faculty are recipients of federal and private foundation grant awards and participate in the University's general education program. The College has a strong staff of support personnel and laboratory coordinators and strong collaboration and shared governance between the college administration, faculty and staff.
The University: Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational
comprehensive college grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison.
