Bader Philanthropies seeks a Program Officer to lead its Youth Development program area, through a combination of grants, collaborative efforts, and technical support. The Foundation operates under the principle that grant funds and other assistance can leverage and stimulate change, both on the ground and at the systemic level. The Youth Development program area has three key strategies:

1. Out-of-School-Time Opportunities:
Support quality out-of-school, after-school, and summer programs that empower school-age youth, teens, and young adults ages 18-24, with an emphasis on:

Community Cultural Development: Inspire creative community building by supporting youth programs that bridge Milwaukee’s economic, racial, and generational divides.

Youth Voice: Support programs that foster authentic youth leadership opportunities, especially for youth not often seen as potential leaders or community assets.

2. Whole Youth Support:
Support services for youth and families who face homelessness, hunger, and mental illness, including programs that encourage youth to develop mindfulness and other wellness strategies to manage stress, anger, and trauma.

3. Capacity Building:
Support stronger youth through stronger agencies, using two approaches:

Agency Stability: Support the development of strong, sustainable youth-serving organizations by building leadership capacity and organizational infrastructure.

Systemic Development: Support the coordination and collaboration of cross-sector youth programs and services to build a web of citywide support for youth and families.

The Program Officer for Youth Development, reports to the Vice President for Grants and Impact Investments and will be responsible for championing innovative grant prospects, conducting grant evaluation, maintaining strong partnerships, and offering candid advice and technical assistance, ensuring the Foundation plays a pivotal role in addressing the many needs of city youth.

Key attributes for the ideal candidate:

Extensive experience in the local Youth arena, with proven success in working with a variety of colleagues and community partners in addressing challenging issues facing our Milwaukee area Youth and enhancing the quality of life in Milwaukee’s diverse communities.

Excellent time and project management skills with strong attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to prioritize among competing goals to execute on tight deadlines, working both independently as well as effectively in a highly collaborative, team environment.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of people both internally and externally.

Professional demeanor with strong work ethic, initiative, and confidence.
