Job Description:

To support manufacturing through identifying and leading the implementation of manufacturing process improvements. Also responsible for supporting manufacturing in regards to methods and tooling or equipment needs. This function has a significant role in our Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and new part approval process, in which specification and manufacturability of the design are reviewed with engineering. This role will be working with manufacturing to ensure the product can be produced to consistently meet specification and delivery requirement while pursuing continual improvement and achievement of established Company goals.

Essential Duties:

• Evaluate and recommend improvements related to facility organization (6S).

• Identify and lead the implementation of manufacturing methods utilizing:

• Lean manufacturing tools to reduce set-up and waste.

• Visual communication methods.

• Material handling and tooling equipment technology.

• Kaizen events to improve capacity.

• Process automation.

• Review and recommend process improvements to increase throughput from analyzing current methods or the use of value stream mapping along with input from employees performing those processes.

• Lead or assist in the implementation of manufacturing processes which are to include:

- Documenting the new process.

- Training all affected employees.

- Follow up to ensure that process is working effectively.

• Support Operations through the purchasing of tooling, supply items and machine maintenance services.

• Work with Engineering, Production and equipment suppliers to identify the specifications of the equipment required for WCS to purchase.

• Develop equipment layouts for improving work flow, effective floor space utilization and efficiencies.

• Assist with the following types of activities:

- Implementing corrective actions.

- Safety-related improvement/projects

- Office-related projects.

• Work with outside contractors on facility-related issues or projects.

• Participate in the APQP and new product development processes:

- Addend required meetings.

- Identify and purchase necessary tooling needed to produce the product.

- Review capacity and identify support equipment, if needed.

- Validate run at rate standards and perform GP12 inspections.

- Responsible for verifying successful execution of manufacturing process.

- Interface with engineering and customer throughout the APQP process, as required.

• Perform activities as assigned as part of the Engineering Change Request process.

• Work with engineering and production to assist in manufacturing challenges.

• Work with external suppliers to provide specs, drawings, verify quotes and create purchase orders to manufacture components for productions equipment or use in the manufacturing process.

• Manage assigned department budgets and CAPX items.

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, plus 2-4 year experience.
